The challenges we’re facing feel so big and powerful
that it’s tempting to give up,
but we can’t look away.
We have to fight.

CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change doesn't just change the face of the planet. It hurts our quality of life and will shape our children's future. It's an issue that should be central to all of our decision-making. New Jersey is especially vulnerable to climate change. It’s one of the fastest-warming states in the country and its miles of coastline make it vulnerable to storms that are now more powerful than ever. We must make Climate Change an urgent priority, and make sure we are also protecting our most vulnerable communities. We must:
• Pass the Green New Deal into law, helping us aggressively combat climate change and while once again becoming an example to the world. I strongly support passing H. Res 109, “Recognizing the duty of the Federal Government to create a Green New Deal”.

• Rejoin the Paris climate accord while also demanding even stricter global emissions standards. Experts agree that the goals set in Paris were not enough.
• Make climate change a key part of the National Security Strategy for Climate Change. I strongly support HR 1201, Climate Change National Security Strategy Act of 2019.
• Focus on Climate Justice, and making sure we prioritize vulnerable communities exposed to toxins, lead in the drinking water and effects of flooding.
• Keep fossil fuels in the ground, ban fracking and urgently work towards a fossil-free future.
WALL STREET REFORM
The Trump administration, with the support of my Democratic primary opponent, has rolled back parts of the landmark Dodd-Frank bill originally passed under President Obama to help the nation avoid another financial crisis. We must:
• Protect Dodd-Frank and stop continued efforts to gut this legislation.

• Pass a new version of the Glass-Steagall Act, a law that protected the U.S. economy for decades by banning retail banks from investing in risky securities. The law was partially repealed in 1999.
• Protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
TAX REFORM
To combat rising income inequality, we need to make sure corporations and the wealthiest pay their fair share. We must:
• Repeal GOP tax that guts poor & middle class.

• Pass and implement a small tax on the ”Ultra-wealthy” (2% tax on every dollar between $50 million and $1 billion; 3% tax after $1 billion).
• Reinstate SALT deduction for federal taxes.
• Ensure that behemoths like Amazon, Netflix etc. no longer avoid paying federal taxes.
CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM
Money from corporate-backed PACs corrupts U.S. politics, with elected officials too often placing the interests of their wealthy corporate donors above those of their constituents. That's why I'm refusing donations from corporate PACs. I'm also refusing donations from fossil fuel executives and lobbyists who prioritize profits over the health and well-being of families. We must:
• Pass a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, the 2010 Supreme Court ruling that eliminated key restrictions on corporate campaign spending. I support H. Res 57, Rep. Adam Schiff's resolution for a proposed amendment, which would also allow states to enact laws providing public financing of campaigns.
HEALTH CARE
Health care is a right. We should have health care for all, not just all who can afford it. The Trump administration has taken steps to dismantle parts of the Affordable Care Act, imperiling the coverage of Americans across the country. My opponent supports only band-aids for our national health care crisis, not real solutions. We must:
• Pass Medicare for All.

• Fight efforts by Trump to cut funding for the National Institutes of Health.
• Restore funding for medical research using fetal tissue -- research that could help scientists understand and treat AIDS, cancer, Parkinson's disease and more.
IMPEACHMENT
No one is above the law, including the president of the United States. President Trump has made a sport of flouting the law well before the Ukraine scandal. Unlike my opponent, I read the Mueller Report and was outraged by the clear indicators that the president had obstructed justice. Trump will not stop undermining our democracy until he is out of office. He must be impeached.

IMMIGRATION
The Trump administration's inhumane immigration policies and abusive detainment of children and families make a mockery of what this country stands for. They must be halted immediately. We must:
• Repeal the cruel travel ban that keeps New Jersey families apart.
• End family separations once and for all, including closing loopholes that continue to allow children to be ripped from their parents to this day.
• Allow asylum seekers to once again seek shelter here, not in dangerous Mexican cities where they face the risk of kidnapping and torture by gangs, as they wait for an immigration judge to hear their cases.
• End mass deportations.
• Reinstate Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and pass the DREAM Act to provide a pathway to citizenship for those who entered the U.S. before the age of 18.
• Provide a pathway to citizenship for other undocumented immigrants living and working in the U.S.
WOMEN'S RIGHTS
Women's reproductive rights are under attack in multiple states. Some employers and states offer paid parental leave, but what we need is a cohesive national policy that ensures paid parental leave for everyone, not just a lucky few. We must:
• Codify Roe v. Wade and push back against efforts to weaken women's health care providers, including Planned Parenthood.

• Repeal the Hyde Amendment to ensure that low-income women can afford reproductive care.
• Prioritize reducing maternal mortality, especially for black women, who are 4 to 5 times more likely to die while pregnant or giving birth.
• Provide paid parental leave nationwide to biological mothers and fathers as well as adoptive parents.
• Provide subsidized childcare so parents don't have to break the bank to ensure their child is being well cared for..
SOCIAL SECURITY
Senior citizens in NJ5 and across the country spent their lives working, raising families and paying taxes. But for too many, it's unsustainable to continue to live in their beloved communities after retirement. It is critical that Social Security benefits be expanded so that seniors can spend less time worrying about bills and more time enjoying their golden years. We must:
• Pass the Social Security 2100 Act, which increases benefits for all current and future Social Security recipients. The benefit increases are paid for in part by payroll tax increases for the top 0.4 percent highest income earners in the country.

GUN VIOLENCE
The United States has exponentially more gun homicides than any other developed country because of weak gun regulations. We cannot allow the tyranny of the NRA to continue any longer. We must:
• Institute universal background checks, closing the loophole that allows unlicensed sellers to avoid performing background checks.

• Require gun sellers to wait for complete background check before transferring firearms.
• Ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
• Push to strip the NRA of its tax-exempt status based on its improper relationship with Russia.
• Pass federal red flag laws.
Arati Kreibich is committed to continue having conversations with her prospective constituents to inform her policy positions and help her best advocate for the people of NJ-5. Is there an issue that you feel strongly about? Is there something you'd like to see added to this site? Please reach out to Arati's campaign at Team@AratiForCongress.com.
